Summer
Most people discover Park City for the skiing. They come back for the summers.

Jordanelle Reservoir
Jordanelle Reservoir covers about 3,000 acres and is a short walk from the Grand Hyatt. The Hailstone Recreation Area – the main access point – has a full-service marina, boat and jet ski rentals, kayak and paddleboard hire, a sandy beach, picnic areas, and campgrounds.
The Park City SUP Festival takes place here every July, and the Jordanelle Triathlon – one of Utah’s longest-running – runs in August. Even on a regular weekend, the lake is busy with pontoon boats, paddleboarders, and families at the beach.
The Ross Creek Recreation Area on the quieter side of the reservoir is great for kayaking and canoeing without motorboat traffic. It is also the trailhead for the Jordanelle Perimeter Trail – 15 miles of hiking and mountain biking along the shoreline.

Hiking and Biking
The trail systems around Park City are extensive. The Perimeter Trail around Jordanelle is a good start – mostly packed dirt, following the shoreline, with options from an easy stroll to a challenging 30-mile out-and-back. Park City itself has over 400 miles of trails, and the lift-served mountain biking at Park City Mountain Resort is some of the best in the country.
For something more ambitious, the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway is a 42-mile drive into the Uinta Mountains with trailheads, alpine lakes, and genuinely remote scenery.

Fishing
Jordanelle Reservoir is stocked with rainbow trout, brown trout, smallmouth bass, and perch. The Provo River below the dam is a well-known fly fishing destination – the Middle Provo section has impressive fish density and the chance at sizable brown trout.

Park City in Summer
Main Street is just as lively in summer as winter – outdoor dining, galleries, live music, and the weekly Park City Farmers Market. The town hosts a packed calendar of events from June through September, including outdoor concerts, art festivals, and food events. The resort shuttle runs from the Grand Hyatt.
Heber City and Midway are about 10-15 minutes in the other direction and worth exploring – the Homestead Crater for swimming, Soldier Hollow for tubing and disc golf, and a growing food and craft beer scene.

At the Hotel
Even on a rest day, you are not short of things to do. The heated pool and hot tubs run through summer. The kids’ club and game room keep younger guests entertained. The fitness centre, restaurants, and spa-inspired amenities are all available. Sometimes the best summer day is a quiet one on the balcony watching the light change over the reservoir.
